It's been just about 1 year since I posted that parole for Schapelle Corby does not look like it will happen. Well things change. There have been some great developments since then- including Corby being cleared by immigration, and news of a parole hearing behind closed doors. Schapelle's supporters are hoping she is released very soon, and that could be just a matter of days away. How the parole hearing went has not been made public, but it's just a matter of time- hopefully a very short time, to see if Corby makes it to freedom.
If granted parole, Schapelle would have to stay in Bali and live with her sister who is a resident there. To say the least, her release is long overdue. If released on parole she will have served about 9 years of her sentence. Hopefully she will be set free very soon. I wish her the best of luck on this.

9 years for 4 or 5kgs of Marijuana in a muslim country?? Consider her to be lucky!! I dont feel sorry for her. I think she is not guilty at all and She well aware about the Marijuana. I dont sympathy her and I think she should stay there for at least another 10 years.

Given drug trafficing is a serious offence, Corby could still face charges in Australia as statute of limatations need not apply to (albeit alledged) crimes of the nature.
Facing charges in Australia might shed clarity on the question of guit which some dispute. Though the length of time past might make conviction difficult, even if guilty, so it is not certain charges would be pressed.
Well I doubt that would happen for several good reasons. One reason is that she would be tried for the same crime twice in two different countries- in the U S that is considered Double Jeopardy and is forbidden by the U S Constitution. Some form of double jeopardy exists in most civilized countries. Also, I don't think Australia would want to go there- There seems to have been a lot of shady dealings concerning Australian officials in this case, and I don't think they would want to hang their dirty laundry out for the public to view.
